BOULDER, COLO. (AP) -- Minnesota Vikings running backs coach Eric Bieniemy says he's accepted an offer to return to Colorado to serve as the Buffaloes' offensive coordinator.

Bieniemy, once a star running back for the Buffs, plans to finish out the season with the Vikings before joining fellow alum Jon Embree, who is expected to be introduced Monday as Colorado's new head football coach.

Vikings running back Albert Young tweeted Saturday that Bieniemy had accepted the Buffs' job and Bieniemy later texted friends and Vikings reporters that he would return to his alma mater after the season.

Colorado athletic director Mike Bohn fired Dan Hawkins, who went 19-39 in four-plus seasons, last month.
