Denver beats Lake Superiors St. 6-3

DENVER (AP) -- Denver sophomore forward Drew Shore had a hat trick Friday as the Pioneers beat Lake Superior State 6-3.

Shore scored twice in the third period as Denver (9-4-2) pulled away from the Lakers (5-8-2). The Pioneers dominated on offense, outshooting the Lakers 40-28.

Kyle Ostrow, Beau Bennett and Dustin Jackson scored for Denver. Anthony Maiani assisted on two goals to back the solid play of goalie Sam Brittain. The freshman made 25 saves, including 11 in the third period.

Zach Trotman scored short-handed to tie it 1-1 in the second.

Rick Schofield and Domenic Monardo also scored for Lake Superior.

Lakers' goalie Brian Mahoney-Wilson made 34 stops.
