LAKEWOOD, COLO. -- Colorado Rockies fans heading to Coors Field for Opening Day now have another reason to get there early: free parking. FirstBank, Colorado’s largest locally-owned bank, has pre-paid for more than 400 parking spots at four lots in Denver’s Ballpark Neighborhood.
Starting Friday morning, April 9, the bank will let Rockies fans park for free on a first-come, first-served basis.
The four free lot locations and opening times are as follows:
- Between 20th and 21st on Market Street –10 a.m.
- At the corner of 19th and Wazee Street –10 a.m.
- Between 18th and 19th on Market Street –11 a.m.
- At the corner of 20th and Larimer Street – noon
To identify the free lots, Rockies fans simply need to look for the FirstBank “Free Lot” signage.
“Opening Day has become a celebrated spring tradition – not only for Denver, but for all of Colorado,” said John Ikard, CEO of FirstBank Holding Company. “As Colorado’s largest locally-owned bank, we want to do our small part to make Opening Day that much more special for Major League Baseball’s best fans. Who doesn’t love free parking?”
FirstBank is quickly becoming known for its presence at Opening Day each year. During the Rockies’ first home game of 2009 season, fans at Coors Field witnessed a single-engine propeller plane towing a banner that read: “This is the closest thing we have to a private jet.”
“By getting a free parking spot, we hope Rockies fans will have a few extra dollars to spend on what’s truly important during Opening Day – hot dogs and beer,” added Ikard.
