CHICAGO (AP) — The Chicago Sky is bound for a more spacious arena in the suburbs.
The team said Monday that the Sky will move from the 9,000-seat University of Illinois at Chicago Pavilion to the 19,000-capacity Allstate Arena in Rosemont beginning with the 2010 season.
Sky president and CEO Margaret Stender pointed said Allstate Arena, near highways and O'Hare International Airport, is accessible to more of the WNBA team's fan base.
Allstate Arena is home to the Chicago Wolves minor league hockey team and DePaul University men's basketball. It hosted the Arena Football League's Chicago Rush until that league suspended operations.
Stender said the Sky signed a multiyear agreement and will initially use a 7,000 seat lower bowl level and expand seating as needed. Other terms were not released.
