TORONTO (AP) -- Colin Miller has been hired as interim coach of Canada's national soccer team.

The position had been vacant since Oct. 18 when Stephen Hart resigned days after Canada was eliminated from World Cup qualifying following an 8-1 loss to Honduras.

Miller will lead the Canadian men at their first training camp of 2013, Jan. 19-30 in the United States. Canada will play exhibitions against Denmark and the Americans.

Miller was Canada's interim head coach in 2003 and 2004 and was an assistant on its 2003 Gold Cup team. He played on Canada's World Cup team in 1986.
