SAN DIEGO – University of Colorado at Colorado Springs runners Branson Bartlett and Chris Reynolds finished 61st and 83rd respectively Saturday in the Junior Division of the USA Cross Country Championships at Mission Bay Park.

The race was the trial to determine the team that will compete in the World Championships in Scotland on March 30. The U.S, team will consist of Iona’s Ryan Sheridan, North Carolina State’s Bobby Moldovan, Virginia’s Emil Heineking, plus unattached runners German Fernandez, the race winner, Kevin Williams and Benjamin Johnson.

“This is the best race in the U.S. for guys 19 and under,” said UCCS coach Mark Misch.

Bartlett covered the 8-kilometer course in 27 minutes, 14 seconds, which was 2:33 behind those who qualified for the U.S. national team. Reynolds clocked in at 28:57.
