U.S. Air Force Academy, Colo. –The Air Force Academy’s rifle team finished in fifth place with 2,311 points at the NCAA Rifle National Championships in smallbore on Friday, March 8.
AFA shooter, David Higgins set a career best 584 in the weapon, firing a perfect 100 in the first prone position in relay 1 for a total 198 points, he followed that up with a 195 and a 191 in the standing and kneeling positions, respectively. His score qualified him for the smallbore finals. In the finals, Higgins scored a 96 and finished sixth in the nation with 680 points.
TCU is in first place with 2,317 points. The air rifle championships are Saturday, March 9.
