LAS VEGAS, NEV. -- Senior Alicia Leipprandt (Ubly, Mich.) was the only Falcon to score in double figures as the Air Force women’s basketball team dropped a 80-53 decision to UNLV Wednesday evening at Cox Pavilion.

Leipprandt finished with 14 points, while junior Michelle Ivey (Stone Mountain, Ga.) added seven points in 15 minutes of action.

The Lady Rebels led by as many as 14 points in the first half before the Falcons went on a 6-0 run, capped off by a three-point play from Ivey, to cut the margin to eight points. However, UNLV (10-14, 6-4) scored the last two baskets of the period to go into the locker room with a 33-21 advantage.

In the second half, Air Force (3-20, 2-8) never got any closer than 10 points, as UNLV began to gradually increase its margin, leading by as many as 29 points. The Lady Rebels shot 60 percent from the field in the second half alone, but held a significant advantage at the free throw line, knocking down 20-of-26 foul shots in the final stanza.

Meanwhile, Air Force, which was called for nine of the first 10 fouls in each half, attempted just 10 free throws in the game. UNLV also held a 42-29 advantage on the boards, but committed more turnovers (27) than the Falcons (24).

The Falcons return to action this Saturday, Feb. 16, when they visit Colorado State in a 2:00 p.m. contest.
