COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. -- A busy day for a Colorado animal rescue.

It removed more than 150 cats from an anonymous home in Colorado Springs.

Rescue officials said the cats were all in the garage of the home

They said the owner is moving, and has until the end of the month to get rid of all the cats.

Life is Better Rescue of Lakewood removed the animals Tuesday afternoon.

They were then distributed to several additional rescues and foster families from Colorado Springs and the Denver area.

"I recently got bit by a cat I was fostering, and I had to be hospitalized for two days for it," Laura Lampley said.

Bored, Lampley decided to scan Craigslist, where she saw a posting from Southern Colorado.

"It said 'Cats in need of homes,'" Lampley said. "I thought it was going to be like 15 cats, and then she called me Sunday night and told me it was 150."

In shock and panicked, Lampley called everyone she knows who rescue and foster.

Within 48 hours she said she had a crew ready to go with crates and food.

"It is pretty amazing, I think that is the biggest miracle, that all these rescues came together," Lampley said.

"Somebody posted it to our Facebook page, and when we asked them to contact us we got more involved," Lauri Cross, Executive Director with Wild Blue Animal Rescue and Sanctuary, said.

The group met in the parking lot of King Soopers on the city's southwest side. Finally the cats arrived, more than 150 all on one bus.

Two by two they were loaded into crates. Remarkably the animal experts said most of the cats appeared to be in good health.

"It was just the sheer number that was the problem," a rescuer said.

From here the animals will receive medical attention and then hopefully a new home.

"Certainly this is going to be a stressful situation for them to be moved out and not know where they are going," Cross said. "They will require some work and handling before they are adoptable."

"If you can donate to the rescues that have participated that would be great, and also think about adopting an adult cat," Lampley said.

Here is a list of some of the animal rescues involved in Tuesday's effort:
