COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. -- Alleged school threats are being investigated by the Colorado Springs Police Department.

The alleged threats were made by an individual and were reported by a third party, police said.

According to police, the threat referred to the school shooting in Newtown, Conn., but did not mention any specific school in Colorado Springs.

Information about the alleged threat was immediately dispersed to school security officers.

Police said a flyer was being distributed about the alleged threat without authorization.

'It is important to note that any threat received by police is taken seriously," police said.

Not enough information was available to sunstantiate the claim but police said an investigation is ongoing.
