Two shootings within 3 hours overnight Friday

COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. -- A busy night for Colorado Springs Police as officers responded to two separate shootings within a three-hour time span.

The first happened around 11:15 Friday night.

Officers responded to a traffic crash and shots fired call on Platte Avenue near Union Boulevard.

A short time later, they said a shooting victim showed up to Memorial Hospital Central.

Witnesses on scene of the crash said they heard numrous gunshots coming from the East, towards Platte Place.

An investigation revealed the shots were fired during a fight on Platte Place.

The victim is expected to be ok, and no arrests have been made.

Then, a few hours later, around 1:30 a.m. a second shooting was reported outside the Layalina Smoke Shop on S. Nevada Avenue.

The C.S.P.D. said shots were fired during a large fight.

Once again the victim showed up to Memorial Hospital a short time later.

That person was later identified as Jose Soto, who told officers he was shot by a hispanic male.

Soto's injuries are non life-threatening.
