COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. -- An 80-year-old woman is dead after being run over by her own truck.
Colorado Springs Police officers said the woman was visiting a friend on Brighton Way around 9:30 a.m. Tuesday when she realized she left her truck running and unattended in the driveway.
The woman was standing outside the driver's side and tried to turn it off when the truck began rolling backwards. It rolled into the street, over a curb and hit a tree. The force from the collision with the tree knocked the woman down in front of the truck. The truck then rolled forward after hitting the tree, running the woman over.
The woman was taken to an area hospital but medical officials pronounced her dead.
Officers did not release any information about her and did not say what caused the truck to roll out of the driveway.
