Denver beats CC 6-2 in hockey

DENVER (AP) -- Chris Knowlton scored twice and five different players had goals as Denver beat Colorado College 6-2 Saturday to sweep the Tigers in their Western Collegiate Hockey Association series.

The Pioneers (9-1-0, 7-21-0) beat Colorado College 6-5 on Friday in Colorado Springs.

Denver jumped out to a 3-0 lead before the Tigers (7-5-0, 4-2-0) scored to make it 3-1 after one period.

Gabe Levin, Matt Tabrum and Shawn Ostrow had first-period goals for Denver, which outshot Colorado College 34-26. Knowlton scored twice and Quentin Shore once in the third period.

Sam Brittain had 24 saves for Denver.

William Rapuzzi and Scott Winkler scored Colorado College goals and Joe Howe had 28 saves.
