COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. -- Former Colorado Springs Police officer Josh Carrier has been found guilty on dozens of counts related to molesting boys at a middle school in the city, where he served as a volunteer wrestling coach.

After the first jury could not agree on more than 100 counts against him in March, the second jury to hear Carrier's case convicted him on many of the charges.

Carrier was found guilty on 34 counts of sexual assault on a child by one in a position of trust, 12 counts of unlawful sexual contact, 22 counts of child enticement and three counts of sexual exploitation. The jury found him not guilty on several other charges.

He was found guilty on 21 counts of sexual exploitation back in March.

"He deserves to go to prison for life," Ann Kaufman, who represented some of the children, said after the jury announced the conviction.

Carrier will be taken to jail without bond and must undergo a psychological sexual evaluation.

Kaufman said the victims and their families are relieved that it's finally over, as it has been an extreme distraction for them.

Carrier volunteered as a wrestling coach at Horace Mann Middle School in 2010 after serving as the school resource officer. He inappropriately touched the wrestlers during routine "skin checks."

Carrier reached a $9.4 million civil settlement with the families of the accused victims a few days after the second trial began.

A judge will sentence him Feb. 22.

FOX21 News reporters Sade Malloy and John Martin were in the courtroom for the verdict.
