ENGLEWOOD, COLO. (AP) -- Never before in Peyton Manning's 15-year NFL career had so many passes missed their mark.

Half of his 52 throws ended up somewhere other than in the hands of the man he was throwing to during Denver's 31-25 loss to Houston last weekend.

And that doesn't count the one toss that went off Eric Decker's hands in the end zone only to flop into the waiting arms of tight end Joel Dreessen for the touchdown.

Manning targeted receiver Demaryius Thomas and tight end Jacob Tamme 21 times total, but they combined for only a half-dozen catches, leading Manning to reiterate his stance that he's still building a rhythm and rapport with his new teammates.

Here's the funny thing about timing: it takes time.
