KEARNEY, Neb. – Nic Fuller concluded his collegiate career with a 32-point effort Saturday, but the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs couldn’t make it a completely happy ending as the Mountain Lions lost 106-94 to the Nebraska-Kearney Lopers at the Health and Sports Center.

Fuller went 12-for-16 from the field, including 5-for-8 from 3-point range, and also had four assists. He finishes his UCCS career as the school’s all-time leader in free throw percentage (86.2) and 3-point percentage (44.2).

Kyle Perkins added 17 points and seven rebounds for the Mountain Lions. Frank McCollum had 13 points, while Abram Ziemer and Jordan McClung had 11 each.

The loss ended not only the Mountain Lions’ three-game winning streak, but also their season. UCCS finished with a10-17 record, 6-13 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference.

Nebraska-Kearney’s five starters played all but seven minutes and scored all of the team’s points. Jeremy Cruise led the way with 27, followed by Drake Beranek (25), Jeff Martin (20), Josiah Parker (19) and Garrett Lever (15). Beranek grabbed a game-high 16 rebounds, while Lever had 10 assists. Cruise’s point total was a season high and Beranek’s rebound total was a career high.

The Lopers had a 31-12 advantage in free throw attempts and were whistled for just 12 fouls in the game. They made 28 (90.3 percent) of those attempts.

Each team made 12 3-pointers. That total tied a season-high for Nebraska-Kearney (15-12, 13-6 RMAC).

The score was tied at 31 when the Lopers, behind six points by Beranek, put together a 13-3 run. They went to halftime leading 47-39.

UCCS worked its way back, finally taking a 59-57 lead on a Fuller 3-pointer with 13:25 remaining. The Mountain Lions were leading 81-80 when Parker had eight points to spark a 10-3 Loper run.

UCCS was still in it, trailing 91-85 with 3:22 remaining, but Nebraska-Kearney was sent to the foul line on seven of its final nine possessions. The 12-point final margin was the largest of the game.
