Suspected DUI driver knocks out power to hundreds in northern Colorado Springs

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -- A suspected drunk driver crashed into an electrical transformer Wednesday morning, knocking out power to hundreds of Colorado Springs Utilities customers.

Police said the crash happened around 5 a.m. in the area of Voyager Parkway and Longs Peak Trail. The driver lost control of his truck, a Ford F150, and hit an electrical transformer. About 1,390 people in the area lost power. Power was fully restored around 7:15 a.m.

The driver of the truck, 29-year-old Brandon Naber of Colorado Springs, will be cited for careless driving and DUI.
