COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. -- Colorado Springs police now have the man who is accused of going on a crime spree Wednesday afternoon in custody.

The suspect has been identified as 46-year-old Ivan Commodore Stamps.

Stamps carjacked at least one vehicle and tried to rob the TCF Bank located at Constitution and Powers, police said.

According to police, a trooper with the Colorado State Patrol saw a black Subaru Outback near Powers Boulevard and Airport Road without license plates. The trooper tried to stop the car and after the suspect did not stop, police continued to follow him.

Police said the man crashed the Subaru and then carjacked a white Nissan Xterra. He then attempted to rob the TFC bank but was not successful.

Stamps was soon captured after crashing the SUV into police cruisers near the intersection of North Carefree and Bloomington. Officers blocked him in and the suspect crashed into one cruiser before backing into another.

Police said two officers were treated for minor injuries.

The Outback, police confirmed, was stolen last week in a carjacking.

Traffic in the area, including eastbound North Carefree east of Powers and westbound North Carefree at Tutt, was closed.

At this time, investigators are trying to determine whether Commodore is responsible for any other offenses.
