Colorado Springs ranked 13th gayest city in America

COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. -- Surprised or not - Colorado Springs was ranked as the 13th 'Gayest City in America' in 2013 by The Advocate, a national gay and lesbian news magazine.
The list included criteria of LGBT (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender) elected officials, companies who support LGBT rights and have an equality index of 100, certain shopping, transgender protections, bisexual resource groups, marriage equality and some athletic organizations like gay rugby and roller derby.
According to the magazine, Colorado Springs has nine LGBT elected officials, one company with an equality index of 100, two stores that were included in the list (Whole Foods, West Elm or Pottery Barn), one bisexual resource group and five roller derby leagues.
