ARVADA, COLO. (AP) -- Investigators are refusing to suggest any connection between a body found in the Denver suburb of Arvada and a missing girl from another suburb.

Police in Westminster declined to say Thursday whether the body was that of a child.

Ten-year-old Jessica Ridgeway of Westminster was last seen leaving for school on Oct. 5. The body was found Wednesday in the Pattridge Park open space in Arvada, about seven miles southwest of Jessica's home. Officers said it was "not intact," which is part of the reason for the delay in identification.

Arvada police say they are still trying to identify the body. They declined further comment.

The open space is south of the Rocky Flats National Wildlife Refuge and is dotted with abandoned coal mine shafts. The area is favored by mountain bikers and model airplane flyers on weekends.
