DENVER (AP) -- The question of gun control in the wake of the Aurora theater shootings is dividing congressional candidates from the district where the massacre occurred.
Democratic Rep. Ed Perlmutter is defending his seat from Republican challenger Joe Coors. Perlmutter and Coors disagreed about gun control in their third debate Friday.
Perlmutter repeated his calls for a renewed assault-weapons ban and banning high-capacity ammunition magazines. Coors argued that no gun laws should be changed because criminals ignore weapons laws.
The congressional district currently includes the Aurora theater where left 12 people were killed and 58 others injured July 20. The district will no longer include that area in January.
