COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. -- Big changes coming to the Colorado Springs Airport with the Bristol Tap Room and Novo Coffee moving in.
"I do like it. I think it brings a piece of of Colorado Springs into the airport and a good face for people traveling through, definitely a good idea," Trevor Rosenberger, an airline passenger said.
The two new businesses will take over the Gordon Biersch, A & W location that went in summer of 2005, and add to the new local theme that's expected to be more profitable than the current eateries.
"Our revenues actually went up around 20 percent over what the prior concession operators were making," Mark Earle, the Director of Aviation at the Colroado Springs Airport said.
The terminal changes just happen to coincide with the more than $22 million expansion that includes a larger TSA area and the installation of automated baggage screening.
The expansion will make bag security a faster, more fluid process with fewer bags opened. The faster service along with the new food options is meant to keep travelers coming back.
"As I fly through airports as long as I have something cold to drink and something good to eat I'm happy," Fred Baros, airline passenger said.
The Colorado Springs Airport has a lot of happy and returning customers thanks to Frontier Airline's four new direct flights. Their success has even pushed Frontier's competitors to lower their prices.
