COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. -- The hot weather is here and one of the best ways to cool off is hanging out at the pool.
More than one month into the new city of Colorado Springs/YMCA collaboration and the pools are exceeding expectations.
"We did over 16,000 people at the three outdoor pools and Prospect Lake," Boyd Williams, Chief Operating Officer of the YMCA said.
The pool volume is exceeding their initial estimate of 12,000 people and based on all the happy faces at Wilson Ranch, it's no surprise that the pool is the cool place to be.
"Well being with your family and going places like this, it's really fun," Keith Brown, a Wilson Ranch swimmer said.
The YMCA is jumping feet first into the partnership and hoping the high volume of customers stays through their August end date.
The current contract is a year-by-year 5-year initial agreement but they're hoping it turns into long term gig.
"These are great assets, you know the YMCA is the leader in aquatic programming across the country and of course in Colorado Springs, so the city came to us because we were in the best position to operate," Williams said.
