Three busted for trying to steal from clothing store

CANON CITY, COLO. -- Canon City Police officers arrested a man and two women Monday for trying to steal clothing from a store.

When officers arrived at the downtown store in the 500 block of Main Street, employees were holding down 23-year-old Jeremy Molina, who was resisting. Officers arrested him, then found two women who had fled in a car.

Officers arrested Frances Romero and Jennifer Sanchez at a nearby park.

According to arrest affidavits, Molina and Romero went into the store, asked about expensive items, then grabbed a bunch of jeans before running out. They ran around the corner, tossed the jeans in a car that Sanchez was waiting in, then tried to get in. Romero got in, but Molina was pulled back by employees before he could get in. Sanchez then drove off.

Romero will be charged with second degree burglary, shoplifting theft, conspiracy and was also in violation of a protection order. He had three outstanding warrants. Romero will be charged with second degree burglary, shoplifting theft and conspiracy.  Sanchez will be charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and complicity.
