COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. -- The woman who tied a toddler with electrical tape and left her in a running shower got the maximum sentence Tuesday after being found guilty of child abuse and other charges.
Mary Horsley was sentenced to 40 years in prison for abusing her niece's then 20-month-old daughter in April 2011. The girl now has permanent brain damage.
Detectives said Horsley tied the girl's hands and ankles with tape and also put tape over her eyes and mouth before leaving her under running water.
The girl's mother, Samantha Salaz, was also involved and got 24 years after agreeing to testify against her aunt.
Horsley also got two years for misdemeanor charges.
