COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. -- Colorado Springs Fire officials have confirmed one person is dead and three others are in the hospital after a crash at the Powers Boulevard/Platte Avenue interchange in southeastern Colorado Springs.

Colorado Springs Fire crews responded to the scene around 1:30 p.m. Monday and immediately called four ambulances.

One person was trapped initially and had to be helped out of the car before being taken to the hospital.

Traffic in both directions of Platte Avenue was diverted to Powers Boulevard.

Officials have not said anything about what exactly happened, and they have not released the names or ages of any of the victims. The person who died was male.
