Which Colorado high schools are making the grade?

SOUTHERN COLORADO -- U.S. News and World Report recently released its annual rankings of all high schools in the country.

The top high school in the southern Colorado region is The Classical Academy in Colorado Springs. It is ranked above the state average in college readiness, math and reading proficiency and smaller than average in student/teacher ratio. The school ranks fifth statewide and 205 nationally

The Vanguard School was ranked second in southern Colorado, sixth in Colorado and 250th nationally. Cheyenne Mountain High School, third in southern Colorado, is the region's best-ranking public school.

The top five is rounded out by another Colorado Springs School - James Irwin Charter, and Monument's Lewis-Palmer High.

Pueblo County's best-ranking school, is East High, which ranks sixth in the region and 32nd statewide. Rounding out the region's top 10 are Doherty, Palmer, Colorado Springs Early Colleges and Coronado - all in Colorado Springs.

Colorado did not have any schools in the nation's top 200.
