COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. -- A Fort Carson soldier is one of the latest casualties in Afghanistan.
The Associated Press said 30-year-old U.S. Army 1st Lt. Alejo Thompson was killed Friday when his unit came under fire while on patrol.
Thompson is a native of Arizona, and was based at Fort Carson.
He was assigned to the A Compant, 1st Battalion, 12th Infantry Regiment, 4th Infantry Division.
Arizona Governor Jan Brewer has ordered flags to fly at half-staff from sunrise to sunset Monday in honor of Thompson.
