FORT CARSON, COLO. -- Fort Carson welcomed home about 200 soldiers Thursday morning who had been in Afghanistan since spring of 2011.

The 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division left in May and June in support of Operation Enduring Freedom, working closely with Afghan Army and Police forces to increase stability and security in Herat, a western province.

They also conducted humanitarian aid projects, patrols and combat outpost defense.
