AIR FORCE ACADEMY, COLO. -- Air Force Academy officials have handed down discipline for seven cadets so far following reports of illegal drug use that surfaced in January.
Officials said three cadets have already received non-judicial punishment, and four others will soon.
The initial investigation involved 31 cadets, 12 of whom are still under investigation. Of the remaining 12, eight were cleared and 12 are still waiting for an official decision.
In April 2010, Academy Superintendent Lt. Gen. Mike Gould issued a General Order prohibiting the use of intoxicating substances other than alcohol, caffeine, tobacco or lawfully-used prescribed medications.
Cadets found in violation of this general order can face appropriate disciplinary actions that may include trial by court-martial, administrative discipline or involuntary separation from the Air Force.
