COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. -- Joshua Carrier's fate is now in the hands of the jury as they began deliberations Tuesday afternoon.
The former Colorado Springs Police officer and assistant wrestling coach at Horace Mann Middle School, is facing more than 200 criminal charges.
They include possession of child porn, and sexually assaulting several boys while performing "skin checks" for the wrestling team.
Carrier announced first thing Tuesday morning his decision not to testify.
That was followed by closing arguments from both the prosecution and defense.
The prosecution was first up.
The team spent their time on the floor rehashing their case, which included the websites, pictures, videos and short stories found on Carrier's laptop, the "skin and medical checks" he performed on the boys and his pattern of abuse.
"One plus one equals a pattern," the prosecution said. "He fooled them all, and they believed him because he was a cop."
That was followed by the defense, which took a somewhat different approach.
Carrier's team reminded jurors about the importance of America's judicial system.
The defense also criticized the investigation, and called it "one-sided" and "goal-oriented."
To wrap up his closing arguments, Carrier's lawyer said his client's life is "mistaken but sincere."
He said "one laptop does not define a man, a career, or a family."
After about a 50 minute rebuttal by the prosecution, the jury was given their instructions and then released to begin deliberations.
Carrier is facing the possibility of life in prison.
