DENVER -- The first billboard supporting the legalization of marijuana in Colorado is now up.

The new sign is right across from Sports Authority Field on I-25 in Denver. It's not overly flashy and doesn't even have a picture of the drug or the marijuana symbol on it, but it is getting people's attention.

It shows a woman asking whether preferring marijuana over alcohol makes her a "bad person." One argument from those supporting the legalization of marijuana is that it is "safer" than drinking alcohol.

At the bottom the billboard gives the website URL for those wanting to learn more about the legalizing marijuana campaign.

The question will be up to voters in November. In late February the legalizing marijuana for recreational use campaign gathered the 86,000 signatures needed to be on the state's 2012 ballot.

Legalization supporters in Colorado were given additional time to collect signatures because too many were recently deemed invalid originally. The initiative was given a second, smaller window to produce additional signatures.

Colorado voters rejected a recreational legalization measure in 2006. California voters rejected a similar plan in 2010.
