DENVER (AP) -- A spring snowstorm rolling across Colorado has left more than 2 feet of snow in parts of southern Colorado.

The National Weather Service says 30 inches of snow was reported Tuesday morning near Cuchara, and Trinidad got a foot of new snow overnight.

About 7.5 inches was reported in Jefferson County, west of Denver.

Interstate 25 over Raton Pass was closed due to accidents and adverse conditions, but it reopened by midday.

In the Denver area, Xcel Energy says more than 22,000 people lost power, partly because moisture from the storm caused power to jump from power lines to power poles, causing smoldering. Spokesman Mark Stutz says fewer than 500 customers were waiting for service to be restored as of Tuesday afternoon, and most should have power back by evening.
