COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. -- Colorado Springs Police officers said someone made a phony 911 phone call late Monday night, likely for the "thrill" of seeing an emergency response.

Officers said a male called them to say he was hiding in his closet and his parents had been shot in the 2100 block of Wahsatch Avenue in the city.

Officers didn't say how old he was but said they arrived and found the call was a false alarm.

According to officers, the case is called "SWATTING" and is an attempt by the caller to seek a thrilling emergency response. Officers said the phone the call was made from was untraceable.
