COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. -- A Colorado Springs girls basketball player is now one step away from competing in a national 3-point contest in New Orleans, but she needs your vote to help get her there.
Kim Cerjan, a Doherty High School player, has made the championship round of the American Family Insurance High School Slam Dunk and 3-Point Championships.
The Facebook-driven contest is hosted by CBS Sports. Girls from across the U.S. submitted videos to CBS Sports for the 3-point contest, and CBS Sports picked the top 16 girls, including Cerjan.
From there, the girls were placed in a bracket and voted on by peers and fans on the event's Facebook page. Cerjan has advanced three rounds to the championship, earning more total votes than her opponent each times. In two of the three rounds, the voting percentages totaled 50-50, but Cerjan advanced by the slim total vote margin.
Fans can only vote once per day, and voting ends Monday, March 19.. If Cerjan wins this round, she will represent Doherty High School in New Orleans April 1 as the nation's best high school 3-point shooter and will compete on CBS Sports.
