PUEBLO COUNTY, COLO. -- Southbound lanes of I-25 were closed north of Pueblo as crews worked to clean the interstate after a tractor trailer caught fire Tuesday.

Pueblo County Sheriff's deputies said county fire crews along with Pueblo West Fire crews and Colorado State troopers responded to the area of mile marker 114 about 15 miles north of Pueblo when the trailer caught fire in the southbound lanes.

Deputies said the trailer was carrying potentially hazardous organic materials.

Fire crews detached the trailer from the cab of the truck and put out the fire, and they continue to work on cleanup.

Emergency crews were rerouting traffic off southbound I-25 during the closure. Northbound lanes and the frontage road were not impacted.

Deputies are reminding people to avoid using open flames outside, as two unrelated brush fires were also reported in the county Tuesday.

I-25 is now open.
