COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. -- The hostage suspect has been identified as Dominic Oliver of Colorado Springs. He was shot by an officer during an armed confrontation and has now died from his injuries. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________Original story:
Colorado Springs Police officers said a hostage situation at the Urological Associates offices is over after the gunman was shot by officers, and the five hostages were rescued safely.
Officers said two hostages were released early into the Tuesday standoff that started around 11:40 a.m. in the 70 block of Printer's Parkway, but three "hidden" hostages weren't found until SWAT teams entered the building.
Officers and medical personnel were seen bringing a man out on a stretcher, who they determined was the gunman. He was taken to Memorial Hospital with life-threatening injuries.
Nobody else was injured in the hostage situation or armed conflict that followed.
The officer that shot the man won't be named but has been placed on paid administrative leave, which is standard police protocol.
