DENVER (AP) -- A major winter storm is spreading across Colorado, bringing warnings of heavy snow across the state and possible blizzards on the Eastern Plains.
The National Weather Service says 12 to 22 inches of snow can be expected along the Front Range.
By the time the storm diminishes on Saturday, parts of eastern Colorado could receive up to two feet of snow. Western Colorado is expecting up to a foot of snow.
Forecasters are urging limited travel. Those who do travel over the next few days are urged to take survival kits that include extra food, water, a flashlight and dry clothing.
The forecast prompted Colorado lawmakers to cancel legislative work on Friday. Lawmakers living far from Denver were urged to travel home Thursday before the storm hit.
