EL PASO COUNTY, COLO. -- The mother of a missing 3-year-old boy is facing charges of attempted first degree murder and child abuse after her son was found in the county with cuts and scrapes.
Around 10 a.m. Saturday, 28-year-old Nyesha Hall-Gonzalez was found wandering on the railroad tracks along I-25 near mile marker 119.
According to El Paso County Sheriff's deputies, hours earlier she was spotted by Colorado State Patrol Troopers with her 3-year old-son. When asked for the child's whereabouts Hall-Gonzalez became uncooperative.
Search and Rescue along with K-9 units were called out and found the boy around 1 p.m. with minor cuts and scrapes.
It appears he fell into a drainage ditch. He was later taken to a hospital and reunited with his father.
Hall-Gonzalez was arrested based on statements during the investigation. But sheriff deputies won't say specifically what led to the arrest.
Hall-Gonzalez is currently at the El Paso County Jail on $50,000 bond.
