COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. -- Colorado Springs Police officers have arrested two men in connection with a kidnapping and murder Jan. 9.
Officers responded to the 5900 block of Rim Ridge Court around 11:24 p.m. Jan. 9 after a neighbor found a body in the street. They investigated and determined the victim, Jeremy Naranjo, had been kidnapped from his home in Pueblo and murdered before being dumped on the side of the street.
The next day, officers pulled over and arrested 26-year-old Xavier Rubalcaba-Lopez for unrelated charges including providing false information to them and being a previously-deported felon from Mexico.

On Tuesday, officers from both the Colorado Springs and Pueblo Police Departments arrested 44-year-old Alfredo Velazquez at his Pueblo home for first degree murder in connection with Naranjo's death. On Wednesday, officers added a first degree murder charge to Lopez for his involvement as well.
According to officers, the kidnapping was the result of a drug deal gone bad. They said Naranjo had dealings with at least one of the suspects in the past.
Officers confirmed there were several men involved in Naranjo's kidnapping, and they are continuing the investigation to try to identify more suspects.
