COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. -- After a six-month investigation Colorado Springs Police officers have arrested three people in connection with hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of stolen wire.

Officers with the Police Impact Team executed seven search warrants, three at homes and four in cars, in connection with the theft cases across the city.

The suspects, two mean and one woman, are accused of the theft and sale of some 6,000 pounds of wire stolen from Colorado Springs Utilities light poles worth about $500,000.

In 2011, officers said about $2 million in metal was stolen in the city, excluding repair costs.

Officers said more arrests are expected, so they are not releasing the names of the three people arrested.
