WIDEFIELD, COLO. -- A body found at a Widefield elementary school may be that of a missing 17-year-old.
The El Paso County Sheriff's Office received the call around 2:30 p.m. Friday from a Colorado Springs Police officer who found the body.
The officer was working with the family of the missing teen, who said their child was last seen on the roof of French Elementary on Dec. 3.
A search of the school's roof was performed on Monday and Tuesday, but nothing was found.
Then on Friday, a police officer returned to the roof and found the lid of the ventilation shaft out of place.
The body was located about 10 to 15 feet down inside the vent.
The sheriff's office said they are treating the case as suspicious.
They are still trying to determine how the person got on the roof.
The body has not yet been identified, but the El Paso County Sheriff's Office said the identification card found on the body is that of 17-year-old Keith Cohu.
Cohu was a student at Widefield High School but withdrew in the spring.
A candlelight vigil was held outside of the high school Saturday night at 7:30 p.m.
