EL PASO COUNTY, COLO. -- El Paso County Sheriff's deputies have arrested a man who allegedly attempted to rob a liquor store just east of Colorado Springs Sunday night.

Deputies said 30-year-old Eric Richards entered Discount Liquors in the 600 block of Peterson Road around 8:15 p.m., got into a fight with the owner at knifepoint and cut the owner's hand.

The owner told deputies Richards was also hurt and was bleeding when he left the store.

Witnesses said they saw Richards get into a silver Nissan sedan and drive away.

Investigators later found the car at a home on East Van Buren Street in Colorado Springs, talked with the car's owner and determined that some of the people who had been driving it earlier in the night were staying at the Chief Motel on South Nevada Avenue.
