New barracks facility ribbon cutting

COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. -- Fort Carson and Evans Army Community Hospital are preparing for a major milestone Monday afternoon.

The two will be coming together to cut the ribbon on a new barracks facility for the Warrior Transition Battalion.

The new 96,400 square foot facility includes 80 two bedroom apartments, central laundry, and an outdoor courtyard.

The facility will house soldiers who are undergoing rehabilitation from injuries and other medical needs.

The barracks also boasts geo-thermal heating and cooling systems and will get its electricity from a solar array at Fort Carson.

The project cost approximately $28 million to construct.
