Murder suspect arrested near high school

COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. -- Colorado Springs Police officers have arrested a man  wanted in connection with a homicide from last month.

Officers with the department's Tactical Enforcement Unit arrested Roy Saldivar Wednesday afternoon on a warrant for first degree murder.

They said he was found near the intersection of Nevada Avenue and Boulder Street.

Palmer High School was on lockdown for a short time as a safety precaution.

Police said Saldivar is the suspect in a deadly shooting from Sept. 22.

Just before 9 p.m. that night, officers were called to the 2900 block of Tremont Street near Fillmore Avenue for a report of shots fired.

When they arrived, they found a man lying in the street with a gunshot wound.

CSPD said Saldivar was riding in a car driven by 36-year-old Deirdre Dziuban when he was located by police.

Dziuban was also arrested, and charged with accessory to first degree murder.
