COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. -- This weekend 150 Air Force Academy cadets will be on their way to South Dakota in order to lend a helping hand.

After classes Thursday the cadets will jump on three buses bound for South Dakota's capitol city.

The Pierre Parks directors said that the cadets will help with sandbag removal and clean up efforts in both private and public areas Friday and Saturday.

Pierre and neighboring Fort Pierre were hit by flooding from the Missouri River over the summer.

Emergency levees helped limit some of the damage and that flood waters have receded the real clean up effort can begin.

Local community groups will help house the cadets and arrange for their meals.
