Denver financier buying the Broadmoor

COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. -- Denver financier Phil Anschutz is buying the historic Broadmoor Hotel.

Anschutz's company, Anschutz Corporation, will be the third owner in the Broadmoor's history, pending approval.

The transaction will remain private.

Officials said the 1,800 employees, including management and staff will not change; Broadmoor President and CEO Steve Bartolin will remain in place.

The Broadmoor was opened in 1918. It is the longest consecutive winner of the Forbes five star award and Triple A Diamond award for excellence.
