EL PASO COUNTY, COLO. -- El Paso County Sheriff's deputies arrested a 19-year-old woman Tuesday after allegedly shooting her father in the neck.

Breehanna Vorhis called deputies around 4 a.m. Tuesday to say her father, 47-year-old Gary Vorhis, had accidentally been shot. Deputies found the single gunshot wound to the neck when they arrived.

Investigators said Breehanna had one of her father's pistols and didn't know it was loaded. She pointed the gun at him and pulled the trigger while talking with him Tuesday morning.

Gary is in stable condition at Memorial Hospital.

Deputies arrested Breehanna and charged her with second degree assault and possession of a weapon by a previous offender. They also arrested 22-year-old Anthony Edwards, who was there when Breehanna shot her father, and charged him with accessory to second degree assault and possession of a weapon by a previous offender.

Deputies have not released any other details in the ongoing investigation.
