Drug bust made in San Luis Valley

ALAMOSA, COLO. -- Drugs and guns are off the streets of southern Colorado after the Colorado State Patrol and the Alamosa Police Department bust seven suspects in connection with a drug ring.

The investigation began almost eight months ago after information surfaced that illegal drug distributors were actively involved in supplying methamphetamine and cocaine in the San Luis Valley.

After months of investigating, surveillance warrants were issued and resulted in the arrest of seven suspects.

The suspects, 26-year-old Michael Pinon-Arambula, 33-year-old Jesus Pinon-Arambula, 39-year-old Steven DeHerrera, 40-year-old Jose Octavio Lopez-Montes, 52-year-old Francisco Avila-Elizarras, 45-year-old Machelle Dominguez, and 33-year-old Judith Ruybal were all arrested without incident.

One suspect, 28-year-old Adrian Lucero, remains at large.

Authorities recovered nearly three pounds of meth and one and a half pounds of cocaine with an estimated street value of more than $157,000.

Officers also seized two cars, three rifles, a hand gun, a stun gun, a bullet proof vest and an undisclosed amount of cash.
