MONUMENT, COLO. -- The man who was found guilty of shooting and killing a Big O Tires store employee in Monument in August of 2010 has been sentenced to six years in prison for reckless manslaughter.

The shooter, 19-year-old Logan McClelland, got the maximum sentence based on his charges.

"The point was [Brad Blehm] was shot in the back.  He was shot in the face seven times with basically no mercy, and that's what it was, murder," Del Blehm, the victim's father, said.

McClelland shot and killed 50-year-old Bradley Blehm in the parking lot of the store. According to McClelland, Blehm started the confrontation after McClelland's father Tom told Blehm's manager he heard Blehm shout the 'f' word. Tom claimed Blehm then came after him and his son drunk and belligerent.

Court documents show McClelland shot Blehm seven times. According to Tom, Logan was protecting him and wouldn't have acted that way if he didn't think his father was in trouble.

Logan was originally charged with first degree murder, but a jury found him guilty of the reckless manslaughter charge, which carries a penalty of 2-6 years in prison.

McClelland got the maximum sentence, but Big O Tires employees, as well as Blehm's family, don't think the sentence is harsh enough.

"It was just a whole bunch of unfortunate things that came together that day.  I can't justify my sons part of it, he was out of line.  I understand that, but it was something that could've been so easily avoided," Blehm said.

Tom McClelland was at the sentencing but did not comment afterwards.
